As promised, let me show you our home that the Lord graciously provided for us a year ago. Many things are not finished yet, but we are thankful for everything that we already have finished. Welcome through our front door:
This is what you see when you come in. The entrance is tiled that's good because we have such muddy dirt and our area is still a big construction site, so dirt and mud gets tracked in every single day. That's why street shoes are not permitted beyond this entrance =).
On the left side of the entrance is an old shoe rack (made from recycled boards =) and a hallway closet. Both of these are only temporary and we hope to replace them wtih a nice bench and some hooks on the walls when the build in closet is finished.
This si the build-in closet that is not finished yet. Hopefully within the next year it will get some shelves, a rod and some shoe shelves and then one day a door as well. So far we only have a portable rod for coats and jackets, but we are constantly running out of space with our large family, LOL.
When you pass the entrance you come directly to our living room. It's wonderful spacious and that means we can have many people at the same time in it. We love that. Our large glass doors help with warming up the place in the winter, since the sun is shining there in the morning. In the summer it's not that good, but hopefully we will be able to purchase a curtain rod next year and then I can make dark curtains to pull over it during the hot summer months.
This is another view of our living room. I didn't want any electronics or messy stuff in it on purpose. We move all of those things to our small family room that can be closed. I will show you that room another time. I love having the living room just for quiet (and non-messy) activities and usually presentable should anyone come unannounced. Of course the piano is there and the children usually practice their instruments, but for most of the time this room needs to be picked up at all times =).
Connected to the living room (to the left) is the dining room (also homework room, craft room, art room, etc.) The main part of furniture is of course a table, this one being my parent's old living room table, but it still holds up. I wish for a sturdy large wooden table where we would all fit in, but till then we are fine with this one. The refrigerator is not a planned part of the dining room, but we can't change that at the moment. Hopefully on that wall I will one day have a nice china cabinet to put all the nice dishes in. Until then a little temporary litle cupboard has to do the trick. The left door leads to the laundry room, the right door to our bedroom. On the right you can see part of our kitchen, which is also connected to this main living area, but I am going to show it to you another time.
I am so thankful for our own home.
